Sherlock Holmes is not just a detective, it is also an amazing person who has become a family and close to people of different eras and all continents. Its creator Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was unlikely to think that such a long and happy fate awaits stories about a private detective-he wanted to write something "more serious" all his life.
