Mori Ogai (1862–1922) is one of the most significant figures in Japanese literature at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries - along with National Scheca, Dadzai Osamu and Akutagawa Ryunoske.
The future writer was born in a samurai family. In the footsteps of his father, who served as a doctor at his overlord, Prince Tsuvanano, OGAY, as was supposed to his eldest son, entered the Medical Department of the Imperial University in Tokyo and, after he graduated, was sent to Germany, where he spent four years from 1885 to 1889 .
as a military doctor, he had to participate in two wars - with China in 1894–1895. and with Russia in 1904-1905. His career was successful-Mori Ogai retired with the rank of Lieutenant General of the Medical Service.
OGAY began to write back in Germany and did not stop literary activity until death. In addition to the genres of stories and stories presented in this collection, Mori Ogai composed dramas and poems, wrote essays and articles, and also translated many European authors - Goethe’s “Faust”, Lessing and G. Ibsen’s plays, stories and novels by L. Tolstoy, I. Turgenev, F. Dostoevsky.
