The “praise of stupidity” can be called the “International Superbestseller of the Renaissance”, because immediately after the first publication in Paris in 1511, she withstood only 7 reprints in France, and she was reprinted in different countries during the author’s life more than 40 times. Erasmus himself, who considered his sparkling satire to be no more than a funny literary trifle, was a lot amazed by such a loud success.
In the work built in the form of a monologue, the main character is Moria (stupidity), revealing his secrets to the reader, listing his merits, praising himself and, most importantly, mocking many sages. In reasoning about her purpose, it affects the issues of art, culture, structure of society and many others
