"Portrait of the artist in youth" is the first and largely Autobiographical novel by Joyce. The novel reflects the years of the formation of the religious and aesthetic views of the lone poet and philosopher Stephen Daedal, the hero of the future "Ulysses". The name of the hero refers to the myth of Master Daedalus, who created a couple of wings and took off them to the sun
