At the height of the First World War, January 16, 1916, the Italian military hydroplance made an emergency landing off the coast of the Adriatic. The poet and writer Gabriela d"annunzio, who was part of the crew, received a contusion that threatened him with a complete loss of vision. In order not to lose the opportunity to see, he had to spend about three months, lying in the complete darkness, by virtually without movement.
pain, insomnia, hallucinations, memories of childhood and youth, the ghosts of the dead combat comrades relentlessly pursued the poet in the dusk for infinitely long weeks. Not wanting to go crazy, he blindly - a line behind a line - made notes on small stripes of paper, fixing events, thoughts, sensations.
These fragmentary sketches, coupled with earlier notes, formed the basis of an amazing book, which the author entitled Notturno and called the best of his prose works.
"So the word that I traced in the darkness loses its appearance and meaning. It `s music". Notturno, however, can be translated not only as a noktyurn, but also as an all -night or generally something related to the most dark, mysterious and terrible time of the day. Immersion in the night
