Mary Anne Evans (such a real name George Eliot) was a woman educated, talented and non -standard thinking. The breadth of her views and deep knowledge was reflected in a creative heritage. The most large -scale work, a real great English novel, was Midlmarch.
Midlmarch is the name of the provincial town in which the action of the novel unfolds. Many characters whose fate is intertwined by the will of the author, inhabit his pages. Many human vices and virtues are manifested in it, ambitious intrigues are weaving, unsuccessful marriages and happy marital unions are concluded, dubious enrichment and fuss around the inheritance occur. At the same time, the book is written with soft irony and is imbued with typically Victorian optimism
