Mendel Marants

The main work that David Friedman (1898-1936) created in a short life was the immortal novel "Mendel Maants". Many thousands of Soviet readers in the 1920s talked from him from him, in Leningrad two years were a performance by Roman with Leonid Utesov in the title role, gratefully recalled the humor of Mendel for several subsequent generations, Mervin Le Roy shot the film on the novel. However, in subsequent years, the author’s name became inconvenient for the Soviet press, and in the USA, where a native of Romania created, new stars obscured him. Only in the 21st century did Friedman"s interest woke up again, and in many countries. It turned out that his pen has much more, including a collection of excellent stories.
The almost complete collection of the artistic prose of David Friedman is published in Russian for the first time.
