"Martin Eden" was written by Jack London while traveling on his own schooner "Snark" along the Pacific Ocean in 1907-1908.
In many ways, autobiographical, this novel tells about the difficult fate of the young man from the lower layers of society.
Facts from the writer’s own life are woven into the history of the protagonist: swimming on the ship as a sailor, work by a ironer in the laundry, acquaintance with a girl from an intelligent family, as well as sleepless nights over manuscripts and books.
Illustrations were created by the Belarusian artist Catherine Grandmas specifically for our publication.
