In the summer of 1907, during a naval trip on a yacht "Snark", Jack London began writing one of his most famous novels - Martin Eden. Six months later, it was completed and printed in the magazine, and then published a separate book. This work is considered partly autobiographical, there are a lot of similarities between the main character and the author - both people from the lower classes who have achieved success and recognition in the literary field due to their perseverance and talent. The literary critic and researcher Valentina Sushkova claimed that Martin Eden is not only Jack London in the past, but also he is in the future, and that with this book the writer predict the sad finale of his own life.
