On August 15, 1939, the Austrian aristocrat Count Valmoden was called up for military training. It is on these days that he is overtaken by great love, which is why the army routine and the need to live in a garrison town for a month turn into a serious inconvenience. The count promises his beloved to return to Vienna on September 16 - on the very first day after the end of the service, but the world war and send his units on a campaign to Poland, all plans are mixed.
