"Castle" is perhaps the most mysterious work of Franz Kafka (1883-1924) The main character, called by the initial of K (isn"t the author himself?), Arrives in a certain village without a name - a village whose life is controlled by a mysterious castle, where it is impossible to get without special permission ... both the village and the castle are metaphors. The village personifies the dull, colorless earthly world, from where people try to get out in vain to get into the unattainable bright kingdom - a castle. The author never allowed the hero to leave the village, Roman remained incomplete. Kafka even asked his friend Max Brod to destroy his drafts, which the ford, fortunately, did not. "Castle" saw the light after the death of the author
