Irina Vladimirovna Odoevtseva is a Russian poetess, a participant in the famous “Workshop of Poets”, beloved student of Nikolai Gumilyov. In 1922, she emigrated from Russia and spent most of her life in France, but in 1987 she returned to Russia. Then, in the late 1980s, her memoirs “on the banks of the Neva” and “on the shores of the Seine” were published by an unprecedented circulation-it was a live voice from a brilliant silver age. However, for a long time, Russian readers could not fully get acquainted with the creative heritage of Irina Odoevtseva. The novel “Leave Hope forever” was written by her after the war, in 1945-1946, soon it was published in French, English and Spanish, the first edition in Russian was published in 1954 in New York, and only in 1991 The year is printed in the magazine October. This novel is an amazing attempt by an emigrant writer to look on the other side of the Iron Curtain and talk about life in Soviet Russia in the late 1930s
