The outstanding Belgian writer Jean Ray (real name is Raymon Jean Mar de Kremer) (1887-1964) wrote in the Fran-Tsuz and Dutch, using, in addition to the main, several more pseudonyms. As Jean Ray, he became known as the author of many mystical and fantastic novels and short stories as Harry Dixon - as the author of a purely detective genre, finally, in the name of John Flanders, he signed romantic, adventure novels and ranges about the sea. Researchers of the work of Jean Ray notes that the world of the sea occupies a significant place among its main topics: "He always has some strange island, a foggy port or sailors who seek to forget the magic related to them with tobacco smoke." These works, originally written in the Netherlands, Ray subsequently transferred to French, several of them modifying, the basis of this publication is the French variants of texts.
This publication is already the second volume in the collected works of Jean Ray, compiled by him from the works signed by the pseudonym "John Flanders"
