When in 1847 the novel Jane Air was printed in London, a certain Carrer Bell was listed as its author. This composition immediately attracted the attention of the public. Everyone wondered who this Bell is, because before they had not heard of such an author in the capital. Intrigues added the word autobiography on the title sheet. What was the surprise when it turned out that the author of the novel is Charlotte Bronte - an unknown young woman from a deaf English province. How could she, without a classic education, write a novel that claimed to become one of the best samples of Victorian England? Later it turned out that this work did not arise from scratch. Charlotte, along with her three sisters and brother, lost her mother early. After the loss of his wife, the father of the children Patrick began to devote all his free time to them, acting as a parish priest. Fantasy saved from the joyless provincial life of his children. According to the memoirs of Charlotte in June 1826, the father gave them a set of soldiers. Immediately, each of them was invented by the name, the faceless figures gained individual features and healed their own life, full of amazing adventures. Reading the metropolitan newspapers and magazines, the sisters of Bronte composed, and then recorded the stories they had invented. With five such fairy tales of Charlotte, first published in Russian, readers can meet in this publication. This is the uniqueness of this book. The works of young Charlotte allow you to look at her literary cuisine, to understand how she hone her style and writing techniques. Unfortunately, the life path of a talented writer was short - she died at the age of 38 shortly after marriage. The novel in this edition is illustrated by 48 drawings of a talented American artist Edmund Henry Garrett. The future painter was born six years after the publication of Roman Charlotte Bronte. Garrett studied painting in Paris, and then returned to the USA and founded an art studio in Boston. He was a talented watercolor, but the glory on both sides of the Atlantic brought him schedule - Garrett became a prolific illustrator of many books, including the works of tennison, Kitsa, Schiller, Shelley and Alexander Dumas. His drawings to the cycle of legends about King Arthur are widely known. At the end of the XIX century. Garrett"s paintings and engravings were widely exhibited throughout the United States and in the French Parisian salon. In the design of the fairy tales of Charlotte Bronte, letters and drawings were used, including in the style of art nuvo, made by the artist Blanche of the Grire. The collection includes the famous novel of the original English writer Charlotte Bronte “Jane Air” translated by Irinarch Vvedensky, as well as five of her fairy tales with preface in the translation of Sergei Afonkin, which were written by Charlotte before the publication “Jane Air” during her youth. The novel in this edition is illustrated by 48 drawings of an American artist, a talented graph of Edmund Henry Garrett, and fairy tales-letters and drawings, including in the style of art nuvo, made by the artist Blanche of Grire
