Primo Levy (1919-1987) - Italian writer, poet and publicist, chemist by education. At twenty -four, he was deported to a concentration camp. Knowledge of the German language, the need of the Nazis in professional chemists, youth and, perhaps, a happy fate helped Levy survive. Immediately after the liberation, he wrote a book "Is this a man? , Considering his duty to the dead to tell about the atrocities of the Nazis. In Western post -war culture, P. Levy takes no less place than A. Solzhenitsyn in Russian. In Italy, the book of Primo Levy "Is this a man?" was called the book of the century.

Sooner or later, everyone begins to understand that there can be no boundless happiness in life, but only a few discover this truth from the opposite end, coming to the conclusion that in the same way there can be no unlimited misfortune. To achieve both one and the other pole is prevented by the conditioning of the human existence itself, hostile to everything endless in nature. The insufficient knowledge of the future, hoping and at the same time uncertainty in the future, interferes. The inevitability of death is interfering with the limit of any joy, as, indeed, to any suffering. Inevitable household concerns are also hindered by us, capable of not only destroying prolonged happiness, but also dull the severity of a long -lasting misfortune, which is no longer perceived, but in separate fragments, which is easier to endure.
