Throughout her life, Virginia Wolf wrote stories: she made small notes and put them off until they became part of the novels or modified works.
In 1921, the only lifetime collection called Monday Il Tuesday (1921)
In 1940, she decided to release a new book, including in it as already published stories - six of the book and six printed in various magazines - not previously published. She discussed this idea a lot with her husband - Leonard Wolf, who published in 1941 - after her death - a collection of eighteen stories "House with Ghosts". .
