Roman Margaret Mitchell was published in 1936 and had a phenomenal success among readers. Only in the first years, his circulation exceeded three million, and “those carried away by the wind” were recognized as the “Book of the Century”. In 1939, the film of the same name was released (with the participation of Vivien Lee and Clark Gaibla), who won eight Oscars and became one of the most box office in the history of cinema. Despite the polar assessments of literary critics, Roman was awarded the prestigious Pulitzer Prize, he was compared with the “war and the world” of Leo Tolstoy, and Margaret Mitchell was put on a par with the great classics of world literature. The book withstood more than 70 editions only in the United States, was translated into dozens of languages and to this day enjoys unchanged popularity and love among readers around the world
