According to the works of Honore de Balzac (1799-1850), one can make an exhaustive idea of the history and everyday life of France in the first half of the 19th century. But Balzac not only described the world around him, he also created his own world - a multi -volume "human comedy", in which the characters move from one work to another, maintaining family ties, habits and addictions. For the first time he used this innovative technique in the novel Father Gorio. This novel entered the classics of world literature also as an exemplary work about a young ambitious man who, struggling with temptations, paves his way in the light. Balzac heroes are people embraced by a strong, all -consuming passion. These are the title heroes of two works included in the real collection: Father Gorio is ready for everything for the sake of love for daughters, and the moneylender gobsek - for the sake of love for the gold that gives him power over people.
