The general issues of plant selection are considered, as well as the features of selection of individual groups of cultures, without details. The main content of the textbook is a breeding process, which is described in many -ways as possible: from the biological characteristics of plants, the requirements of the methodology of the experimental business, technology, organization and economy. Considerable attention is paid to promising areas of selection, as well as its narrow places and the most common mistakes. The fundamental provisions of the use of breeding technologies, their compliance with genetic laws are given. When writing a textbook, the authors were guided by their own experience of many years of breeding work, literature data and information received from breeders.
