This textbook is intended for students studying in the direction of the “agronomy ", the level of education is bachelor, which provides for the discipline" Fundamentals of selection and seed production ", as well as all persons interested in practical issues related to selection and seed production. It contains the main provisions of selection and seed production. The textbook gives the basis of the creation of new varieties and hybrids and methods of their reproduction without their details. Some techniques, in particular related to the use of genetic, biotechnological, genetically engineering technologies used in selection and seed production, are mentioned briefly.
In the preparation of undergraduates studying on the training program of “genetics, breeding and seed production”, and undergraduate students who have chosen specialized training on selection and seed production, selection issues are considered more deeply in the textbook by V.V. Pylnev and Yu. B. Konovalova "General selection".
Currently, seed production, in particular, its legislative framework, the rules for working with seed material, evaluating the quality of seeds and paperwork for seeds are significantly modified. The textbook contains theoretical and practical foundations of seed production. The authors paid special attention to seed production at different levels, the recommended methods and techniques for working with propagated material when conducting primary and intra -economic seed production, methods for evaluating varietal and sowing qualities of seeds, documenting seeds
