The hot summer of 1940, German troops invaded France. On the roads of war, under the bombs, an avalanche of desperate, frightened people rolled up: coconuts abandoned by lovers, pampered bourgeois, poor, cripples, old people, children. In the crowd of refugees, everything raised - compassion and meanness, courage and fear, selflessness and cruelty. Like the whole of France, it is difficult for the town of Bussy to come to terms with the fact that he became a haven for the invaders ...

The novel of the famous French writer Irene Nemirovsky (1903-1942), who died in Auschwitz, ruthlessly exposes people"s psychology in The time of the enemy invasion resurrects the tragic page of French history.

Iren Nemirovsky was born in Kyiv in 1903 and emigrated to France with her family when she was 15 years old. Literary success came to Iren in the late twenties. Fleeing from the German invasion, she fled from Paris and settled in a deaf village, but was arrested and died in Auschwitz in 1942.
Her daughter Denise Epstein retained the manuscript of the last work of her mother, the novel "French suite", in which the tragic flight of the French in June 1940 is described with amazing force. The novel saw the light in 2004 and was a deafening success. He was awarded the Renodo Literary Prize, which became a unique event, since this award, like Nobel, is given only to the living authors
