Jane Osten was born in the family of a priest, whose condition did not allow the girl to hope for a bright future. She, an eighth child, was difficult to count on a good education or a successful marriage. Studying in different boarding houses did not contribute to gaining knowledge, and then Father Jane set to work. He became the best teacher for her daughter and instilled in her love of literature, which later resulted in the thirst for literary creativity. Jane tried to write from the age of 14, and the satirical novel was the first from her pen - a parody of the romantic works of those times. The writer brought her subtle humor to later books, which, incidentally, were just romantic. But she managed to change the romantic genre, endowing it with real feelings and experiences instead of sentimental idle talk.
And the soil that nourished the plans of Jane, was her unsuccessful love, the memory of which she carried through her whole life. Lovers could not combine their destinies, as they were poor, and the parents wanted the best party for each of them. The themes of financial inequality are constantly present in Osten’s novels, but they are much more important in them - the internal dispute between feeling and duty, the voice of the mind and the call of the heart. And sometimes, no matter how the mind is right, feelings break through a stormy river.
