The collection Exile and the Kingdom, published in 1957 in France, reflects the deep changes that occurred in the creative consciousness of the writer. In the period when the idea of creating a "new novel" is widespread, Camus turns to the traditional genre of the novel. Deliberately avoiding innovative forms, combining very different stories in one book, the writer focuses on the problems of the collection.
"Exile" and "Kingdom" is the pole of life: loneliness and solidarity between which the space of overcoming the length of human life. And the reader will have to feel his involvement in the spiritual world of the artist, who voluntarily chose "internal exile."
