Elmer Gentri is a satirical novel by an American writer, Nobel laureate, master and expert on the psychology of the Central American Lewis Sinclair, which presents aspects of the religious activity of America in fundamentalist and evangelist circles and the attitude of the public of the 1920s to it. The main character of the novel, the Monk Dr. Elmer Gentri, is at first attracted by a drink, easy money and women. After several attempts to preach the gospel in different faiths, despite his hypocrisy and consistent sexual scandals, ultimately, he becomes a successful priest of the Methodist Church
