“Warry” (1945) is the second novel after the “age of maturity” in the trilogy of Sartre “Roads of Freedom”.
Europe froze in the face of an inevitable war. Mathieu, a university teacher of philosophy, is aware with horror, that his personal problems, joys and sorrows already mean nothing-like grains of sand in the whirlwind of a giant storm, which is about to sweep away the whole world from the face.
Everything has become unimportant - Love, friendship, thoughts. And gradually Mathieu, who had not previously accepted the idea of the limb of human life, began to hate life itself - a painful “delay” of the death sentence
