“Dangerous ties” are the only book by Schorelo de Lacco, a French artillery officer, inventor and politician, and in 1782, when this epistolary novel was first published, the author assured that the entire correspondence in it is completely genuine. We do not know whether it is true, but “dangerous ties”, one of the first psychological novels in history, remains the brightest and most popular model of the XVIII century and to this day has not lost its relevance. Wanting to take revenge on their opponents and partly to each other, the heroes of the novel by Viscount de Valmon and the Marquis de Mertee start a sophisticated intrigue. Having developed a cunning strategy and tactics of seduction of the young girl Cecil de Wolage, they masterfully play human weaknesses and shortcomings. The novel repeatedly - and invariably brilliantly - was filmed by Roger Vadim (1960), Stephen Freirs (1988), Milosha Forman (1989), Roger Camble (1999), Jose Diane (2003) and others, and the roles in these adaptations were played by large stars, from Gerara Philip, Jean-Louis Trentinignan, Katrin Deneuv, Annette Bening and John Malkovich to Colin Ferta, Memo Tutmans, Keanu Reeves, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Reese Witherspoon: “Dangerous Relations”-material that every worthy actor is ready to interpret in his own way Like Shakespearean tragedies. Passion and revenge, purity and vice, frivolity and chastity are eternal topics, and therefore for a century we have been observing the ups and downs of this plot, unable to look away
