“Scarlet Sails” is a wonderful fairy tale about how sacredly stinging in the heart the dream of a miracle makes this miracle real, that the search for beautiful love will necessarily be crowned with success. This story of Green, which we discover for ourselves in early childhood, and then reread with pleasure, is for many readers a real anthem of a bright and pure feeling. And the name of the heroine Assol and the image of the “scarlet sails” became household.
“Running along the waves” is an affair with a very strong adventurous stream, with many adventures, with a bright picture of a carnival, involving the entire port city in his madness. Through this whole series of exciting events, the title line of confrontation between two worldviews is held: strict logic and a clear picture of the world is contrasting with faith in an unrealizable, faith in a miracle. And the hero, striving for this unreasonable, incredible, believing in his existence, as in the legend of the running along the waves, as a result acquires happiness with a girl separating his ideals
