A family novel, a chronicle of the Licht family from a talented adventurer of the eighteenth century Sarah Licht to an inglorious end of this kind in the thirties of the twentieth century.

Abraham, the patriarch of the family, raised and blinded in his image and likeness a whole brood of gifted scammers, crooks and killers, experts in the game, as he calls his life philosophy. Traveling in America, they masterfully circle around the finger of gullible sacrifices, playing on their vices - greed, lust, swagger.

Abraham involves his family in increasingly confusing and spectacular adventures, but in the end carefully prepared frauds collapse, and he discovers with deep disappointment that family ties turn out to be as unreliable as his plans for the infantry of naive strangers.
