Paul Gustav Dorea, one of the greatest engravers of the XIX century, who illustrated many works - from the Bible to the tales of Charles Pen. He was considered an outstanding representative of European art, who made an unsurpassed contribution to the treasury of world graphics.
Having created engravings for Gargantua and Pantagruel, F. Rabelais, and then to D. Aligieri"s Divine Comedy, the artist becomes a leading illustrator of Paris. Soon he makes a cycle of work to the novel by M. de Cervantes “Don Quixote”, to which he was inspired by a trip to Spain. And approximately at the same time, the “adventures of Baron Munhgauzen” R. Spope is taken for illustrations, reflecting the wit and love of the hero for improvisation.
