The Norwegian writer Sigrid Unset (1882-1949) was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature with the wording "for the perfect image of the Norwegian Middle Ages." The action of the historical trilogy "Christine, the daughter of Lavrans" takes place in medieval Norway. In the center of the story, the history of life is Christine, the daughter of a respected and wealthy owner of the Yorundhord estate, who connected fate with the frivolous knight Herland. This is a story about love and fidelity, and that high price that sometimes you have to pay for the fulfillment of desires.
The first part of the trilogy called "Crown" (1920) entered the book. It tells about childhood and growing up Christine, her family, as well as about the suddenly flashed passion for the knight Herland, who is destined to play a fatal role in her life.
Christine lived in Yorundhorda by the legitimate bride of Erlend. Together with the mother, they revised everything accumulated for Christine Dowry, trying to further increase the pile of bed linen and dress, because Lavrans did not want to regret anything, since he decided to give his daughter to the owner of Husabu.
Christine was surprised to herself: why is she now not happy? But in fact, no one was happy at all in Yorundhord, despite all the revival and vanity ...
