Louis Paul Bon is one of the most important Belgian (Flemish) writers of the 20th century, who wrote in the Dutch language. Born in the Belgian city of Alst (East Flanders Province) in the family of workers. The first novel by L.P. Bon "The suburbs is growing" (De Voorstad Groeit), published in 1942, received the Lyo Crane literary prize.
