Today it is difficult to imagine a panorama of the history of the world without utopian works. This kit includes one of the best works of this genre: “We”, “1984. Cross -yard ”,“ 451 ° according to Fahrenheit ”,“ Do not let me go ”,“ The story of the maid ”.
“We” Evgeny Zamyatin was not the first work in this genre, but it definitely became to some extent the “ancestor” of many anti-utopias of the twentieth century. “We” is the world of the XXXII century, where the names are replaced with letters and numbers, people eat oil refining products, the state controls everything, including the intimate life of citizens, and the presence of a person in a person is a reason for a visit to a therapist.
“1984” by J. Orwell-a pre-ending novel about the danger of totalitarianism, as well as the “Castard”-a novel-calling a farm whose inhabitants personify the most vile human vices.
“451 ° according to Fahrenheit” by R. Bradbury is a philosophical anti -utopia of Bradbury, drawing a hopeless picture of the development of a post -industrial society.
“Do not let me go” K. Ishiguro is a piercing book, a novel-alignment about the present and the past, causing mental confusion and pain, because there is a category of people who live only in order to be donors of organs.
“The story of the maids” M. Etwood is a convincing panorama of the future that can begin tomorrow. In a marvelous new world, women do not have the right to own property, work, love, read and write. They cannot run in the morning, arrange picnics and parties, they are forbidden to marry a second time. They left only one function. Fredova is a maid. Once a day she can go shopping, but she is not supposed to talk or remember. Once a month she meets with her master - a commander - and prays that a healthy child is obtained from their intercourse. Because in the marvelous new world, the maid is just a vessel of reproduction
