The innovative novel by Alfred Dyublin (1878–1957) Berlin Alexander Platz immediately after the publication in 1929 was a huge success in Germany. But Franz Biberkopf, whose history is told by the author, is by no means of those who are willingly taken to the main characters. A simple hired worker, a lover of women who has just left prison with a vague desire to live honestly and without problems. And here he is again at large, in Berlin. Around some kind of whirlwind to him: communists, fascists, bandits, Jews, police ... It is difficult to find earnings. Our hero is looking closely at everything, adapts, again looking for a place under the sun. Among other things, he makes an acquaintance with a certain Reinhold and takes part in one deal of the fruit merchant - and the fate of Franz again makes a cool turn ...
