The true name of the author hiding behind the pseudonym Kurban Said still causes disputes. His famous novel Ali and Nino was first published in 1937 in Vienna. For a long time the book was considered lost, and only in the 70s of the XX century its English translation was discovered. The characters of the book triumphantly returned to the shelves of bookstores to become one of the most famous couples of the XX century. Today, the novel has been translated into thirty -three languages, plays on it, make films, and a monument was erected in Batumi in Batumi
