The sixth issue of the collection "The Age of Enlightenment" includes materials from the international conference "What is Enlightenment? New Answers to an Old Question," which took place in Kuskovo on June 26-28, 2017. The authors - scholars from Russia, Ukraine, Hungary, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the USA, and Japan - present new approaches to studying the Enlightenment, demonstrating the possibilities of modern research methods of this era. The topics of their works vary significantly: the general characteristics of the Enlightenment and its chronological framework, Enlightenment and the transformation of political language, Enlightenment practices, secularization in the discourse of the Enlightenment, the relationship between the universal content of the Enlightenment and its local variations, Enlightenment and Revolution, 'global' Enlightenment. The collection also includes new publications of sources and research on the history of Russian-Western European cultural connections.
