The collection of selected works by Arkadiy Fedorovich Eremeev (1933–2002), which is being released in the year of his 90th anniversary, includes works on aesthetics and literary criticism. It consists of selected chapters from three sets of lectures on aesthetics (based on the aesthetics course at the Ural State University, delivered by A. F. Eremeev from the late 1960s to the late 1990s) and his articles that reveal an original, scientifically relevant concept of art as a social-communicative system and key components of this system such as society's artistic needs, artistic image, artistic form, and artistic reality. A.F. Eremeev's literary-critical articles are dedicated to the interpretation of works by E. Evtushenko, V. Rasputin, and V. Soloukhin. In art, A.F. Eremeev saw the embodiment of spiritual wealth, cultural values, and multifaceted aspects of culture, the joy and perspectives of human existence, a unique way of transmitting this sociocultural experience in historical time. The main theme of Prof. Eremeev's later works became the mystery of the phenomenon of artistry. His last monograph on Alexander Pushkin's story "The Blizzard" is dedicated to this theme and is published in this edition. In this work, the scholar revealed an ontological interpretation of art. The collection is aimed at aestheticians, art historians, philologists, cultural studies scholars, teachers, and students, anyone interested in art, its complex structure, existence, meaning, and impact on people.
