St. Gregory Palama (1296-1359) - Afonov Monk, Archbishop of the Fessonian, outstanding Orthodox theologians. In contrast to some of the theologians of the previous period, such as St. John Damaskina, did not leave the systematic presentation of Orthodox dogmatic. St. Gregory was the author of numerous ascetic works in which he outlined the Orthodox point of view on issues raised in his time by the Calabrian monk Varlaam and his supporters. As an Archbishop of the Fesalonian, he explained the truth of the Orthodox faith with his womb and took care of her moral and spiritual prosperia. In different way, he approached the illumination of theological issues in a dispute with Varlaam and in conversations with the Dessalonian Christians
