The book is devoted to the memory of the outstanding Russian scientist-encyclopedist-geologist, geographer, ecologist, hero of socialist labor, laureate of state prizes, vice president of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1982-1988) of Academician Alexander Leonidovich Yanshin. The life path of the scientist is thoroughly illuminated. Of great interest are his memories of relatives, friends and colleagues, thoughts of science and his own works, as well as published in the periodical (from 1962 to 1999) conversations and interviews with him. More than 50 memoirs of well -known people who worked with the academician reveal the image of A.L. Yanshin as a person, citizen and scientist.
