The textbook helps to correctly understand, interpret and use English-speaking academic vocabulary in the context of social sciences, in fascinating form, developing analytical, linguistic and general cultural skills, the empowerment of education at the university and successful communication in the international scientific environment.
The basis of the approach is the word formation that is not characteristic of modern English, but characteristic of Latin-Greek borrowings that sometimes up to 90% of the vocabulary of scientific text. The ability to operate with this word formation allows not only to understand academic vocabulary and terminology without dictionaries, but also to properly use it when writing scientific text. The textbook contains keys and explanations in Russian, so it can be used both in the student audience and in the independent work of specialists in the preparation of publications in English. A number of tasks are accompanied by pymas - interactive educational materials in the PowerPoint program, which can be found on the website of the Publishing House HSE or on the author"s website
