“The Way of Bodhisattva” (“Bodhicharya Avatar”) is the largest work of Mahayana Buddhism, written by the outstanding Indian thinker and poet of the VIII century Chantideva. His Holiness the Dalai Lama XIV included the name of Shantideva among the seventeen Panit (scientists) of the ancient Indian University of Naland, who made the most significant contribution to the development of Buddhist thought.
In the book “The Flash of lightning in the darkness of the night”, the Dalai Lama briefly comments on the most important stanzas of the ten chapters of “Bodhicharya Avatars”, explaining the practice of six paramitis (perfection): generosity, morality, patience, diligence, meditation and wisdom. The book was compiled on the basis of oral teachings of the Dalai Lama, given in Dordon, in France, in August 1991.
The book is published in the Naland series, manufactured by the Tibet Foundation under the spiritual leadership of Talo Tulka Rinpoche
