The book of the chosen essays of the modern French poet, the theoretician of literature and art of Iva Bonfua (1923–2016) includes works dedicated to the work of Yorgos Seferis, Lev Shestov, Franz Kafka, Alberto Jacketti, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Roland Bart, Louis-Reye Defor, Paul Tselan, and other texts, for the most part associated with the author’s thoughts on the role of poetry as a special tool for cognition. Bonfua believes that poetry is in the center of existential problems that everyone faces in one way or another: it helps to more directly feel the flow of time and more deeply experience the limb of our existence, and therefore approaching the understanding of the main life values. In the past century, Bonfua sees the time of the expansion of ideologies - the absolutized language formulas closed in themselves. Poetry in a wide sense of this word always destroys such isolation and therefore opposes any ideological systems, religious or non -religious
