The history of the 14th Wehrmacht Tank Division was written by its veteran Rolf Grams, the former commander of the 64th motorcycle battalion, which was part of the division.
The 14th Tank Division was formed in Dresden on August 15, 1940. Combat baptism received during a trip to Yugoslavia in April 1941. She was then transferred to Poland and participated in the invasion of the Soviet Union. The division with battles took place from Bug to Don, completing the 1941 campaign at the borders of the famous Miusfront. In 1942, the 14th Tank Division took an active part in the summary of the Wehrmacht at the southern sector of the Eastern Front and in the Battle of Stalingrad. As part of the 51th Army Corps of the 6th Army, she led fierce battles in Stalingrad, went to the environment and in January 1943 ceased to exist along with all the troops of Field Marshal Paulus. Commander of the 14th Tank Division General Major Lattman and most of his subordinates were captured.
In the summer of 1943 in France, the division was formed secondary. They included those divisions of the "old" of the 14th Tank Division, who managed to avoid death in the Stalingrad boiler. The compound was soon transferred to Ukraine, where it led battles in the area of ​​Krivoy Rog, Kirovograd and Cherkassy. I carry heavy losses, the division retreated to Moldova and then in Romania. Consistently breaking out of several Soviet boilers, in the summer of 1944 the division was transferred to Kurlydia to help the North Army Group. She took the most active part in all six Courland battles, having received a well-deserved nickname Courneda Fire Team. In the spring of 1945, some division divisions were evacuated by the sea to Germany, but its main forces fell into Soviet captivity. This ended the history of one of the most combat-ready vermachute tank divisions.
