Three quarters of a century after the death of Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov, he found himself in a position that he probably could not have imagined during his lifetime - he became a fashionable classic, a beloved writer for several generations in a row. His works are read and quoted, translated and constantly reprinted, staged and adapted for screen, loved and praised - not by design. Therefore, today it is difficult to imagine a person who has never heard the call "do not read Soviet newspapers before lunch," who did not know that "Anushka has already spilled the oil," that "the housing issue has spoiled" Muscovites, and that "the maid was making vodka." The authors of this edition set out to collect the statements of Mikhail Bulgakov in order to illustrate his attitude towards a range of issues and problems. The book includes quotes from Mikhail Bulgakov's literary works, his letters, diary entries, and memoirs about the writer. The quotes are accompanied by comments in which we have tried to tell about some episodes of the writer's biography, as well as to show the historical-literary context of his works.
