In Azerbaijan, there is a unique natural deposit of medicinal oil used for treating various skin diseases in humans.
Naphthalan oil is a unique combined, multi-component, balanced composition with healing properties created by nature over centuries and has a complex, yet not fully studied chemical composition. It contains cyclic saturated (naphthenic) hydrocarbons (57%), aromatic hydrocarbons, nitrogen bases (0.3%), naphthenic acids, in particular, cyclopentane (up to 1%), sulfur compounds, trace elements (zinc, boron, manganese, iodine, bromine, lithium, cobalt, copper, rubidium, molybdenum, boron), active resins.
A cream-balm based on naphthalan oil has anti-inflammatory, resorptive, desensitizing, wound-healing, and analgesic effects. It is used as an adjunct in the treatment of psoriasis, eczema, neurodermatitis, seborrhea, pityriasis rosea, furuncles, sycosis, pyoderma, urticaria, skin itching, wounds, bedsores, torpid ulcers, burns, frostbite, and postoperative sutures.
